A Low Key A Fair
We ventured off down to the home of cricket for the annual Cricket Equipment trade fair last week. It was a fairly low key affair this year with fewer exhibitors and it also didn't seem to be as busy with retailers taking a look at any new innovations.
This was good news for us as we have a tight window to get around, shake hands, book appointments and more importantly to see if anything catches our eye.
The only one of the 'big brands' to exhibit are Gray Nicolls, but we had already seen there offerings for 2014 (and were impressed) so we concentrated on the 'smaller up and coming' brands to see if there was anything new and exciting.
Spartan caught our eye and with substantial financial backing will be an interesting addition to our ange for 2014. They have the ability to market the brand and with Matt Prior, Michael Clarke, Mitchell Johnson and maybe another big name or two using it in the forthcoming Ashes series down under it will create alot of interest with our customer base.
We will also be stocking the impressive new Millichamp and Hall CK22 range which although it is a premium priced product is outstanding. Newbery's new Kudos bat will also be a favourite, as will there great value for money Test and County range of soft leather.
It was good to meet up with the guy behind the Paceman bowling machine who with a new UK distributor should enable us to sell the machine at a more competitive price.
Other highlights were the New balance, Asics and Adidas footwear, the new Mongoose bat, The Masuri vision series helmets and the SF and Ton ranges, all ofwhich will appear on our website over the next month with prices and the ability to pre - order.
