The Gunn & Moore 2014 Range - Our View
We had a look at the new Gunn & Moore range for 2014 the other day and came to the conclusion that it will be extremely popular again with our customers when it becomes available from early November 2013 onwards.
Get Your Kicks On Root Six6
Gunn & Moore have released 2 new bats for 2014, the Six6 being one of them. This bat will be used by Joe Root starting with the Ashes in the winter. The Six6 features the new F4.5 flatter face profile, which is basically just a half way house between the traditional F7 profile and the flat face F2 profile. This bat has a stunning profile which although it isn't huge is beautifully contoured, and with its classy cosmetic appearance and Joe Root's endorsement we see this being really popular in 2014.
One For The Purist
The Purist has been re-introduced by GM for 2014. The original Purist was the choice of players such as Michael Vaughan 10 - 15 years ago and featured a very classical profile, the new Purist F2 is largely different with its enlarged edges, flat face F2 profile and extended sweet spot. This is a truely great cricket bat profile and is ideally suited to club cricketers who play on low piches due to the bats low swell position.
The Rest Of The Bat Range
Other than the excellent cosmetic revamp of the Icon for 2014, the rest of the range remains largely the same. The Octane will still prove to be a huge hit, in more ways than one!, and the Zona will provide the extreme shape for someone requiring something completely different. The Icon still has and will continue to have a huge following, and due to this we feel that the Argon looks a little lost in the range.
Superb Softs
The Gunn & Moore batting pads and gloves range for 2014 is up there with the very best we have seen in terms of feel, functionality and price. The d30 range of pads still doesn't quite do it for us but the rest of the pads are outstanding with the highlight being the 808 at a recommended retail price of £55. There is absolutely no weak link within the batting glove range, the d30 gloves offer unrivalled protection and flexibility and the new look Original LE, Original, 808 and 606 tick all boxes and will require us to carry plenty of these in stock to satisfy demand.
Wicket Keeping Wonderland
The new Original LE keeping glove was so good I didn't want to take them off. The look great with the striking aqua blue flash on white, but most importantly have the softest feel of any wicket keeping glove we have ever tried on and they flex in all the correct areas. The Original LE also retails at only £85 and is available down to a boys size for serious junior wicket keepers. The rest of the range worked really well and also ticked all the right boxes. The gloves are well backed up with a great looking lightweight range of keeping pads.
Other Views On The Range
The new luggage range was nice if a little pricey, the Original Duplex will increase from a retail price of £100 to £115 with most of the other bags increasing in price as well. The range will still proove to be popular but we can see the slightly lower price points and more vibrant colours of their rivals bags holding these back against the competition. The footwear remains the same which is good news as we sold out of these shoes really early last year provvong just how popular they had been. Helmets and clothing also stays the same as in 2013 which isn't surprising as it works. One more product to look out for is the ripple bat grip which gives excellent feel.
The new Gunn & Moore range will be available to view on our website towards the end of September and will be in stock from early November.
